Donald Bustell plays a variety of music from the Baroque to modern with many stops along the way: short pieces by classical guitarists, traditional Americana, rags, standards, instrumental versions of folk and pop favorites from the 50's and 60's, as well as his own compositions. The music flows from his fingers and invites either careful listening or casual enjoyment as a relaxing background.

Although he has played the guitar for over 35 years, he has rarely performed in public. He first became known to musicians in central Iowa when he joined the Central Iowa Songwriters Network. Here is what some of them have to say about his work:

Don Bustell is a very accomplished fingerstyle guitarist. I should know, because for years now I have been abusing guitars in order to sing over them. I was fascinated by his delicate touch and choice of material. I was jealous of the way his guitar sang to him. Mine hollers. Don is a very enjoyable listen.

Combining the precision of Segovia with the whimsy of Chet Atkins, Donald Bustell is one of the best fingerstyle guitarists in the state. His extensive repertoire showcases a delightfully eclectic mix of folk, pop, classical, and original compositions.

Donald Bustell is a musician's musician; his devotion to detail and style are inspirational to players and entertaining to fans!
